Delta’s TakeOff 15 is an existing card benefit, not a newly launched sale. For eligible primary Delta SkyMiles American Express Gold, Platinum and Reserve cardholders, including business versions, it reduces the miles needed for qualifying award tickets. A smaller mileage bill is welcome. It is not, by itself, proof of a good redemption.

The entire itinerary must be operated and ticketed by Delta or Delta Connection, booked through Delta’s website or app, with the eligible card linked to the signed-in SkyMiles account. Partner-operated flights are excluded. Your card benefit does not travel across the alliance with you.

There is one useful correction to recent coverage: Delta’s current terms allow the benefit on eligible changed award tickets. Delta Main Basic tickets cannot be voluntarily changed. Taxes and fees remain payable with the eligible card; the discount does not reduce them.

Check the operating carrier and the final mileage price before booking. Keep the cash alternative in view, too. A discount is a reason to compare—not a reason to stop comparing.
